This interview was done in 2006, but is relevant in 2014 whenr the Massachusetts Gaming Commission did not give the casino license to Mohegan Sun in Revere, which in turn endangers to fate of Suffolk Downs, a Thoroughbred racetrack almost 80 years old.
Both Greene and Edwards have had careers working with race horses. In addition, Jim Greene created the 8th Pole, and agency that he and Shirley Edwards run for the health and welfare of backside workers. Originally the concentration was on substance abuse problems, but the depth of coverage has developed through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Healthcare for the Homeless.
